Allah (Subhan a hu wa ta’ala) says in the Qur’an:
الم (١)ذَلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ هُدًى لِلْمُتَّقِينَ (٢)
2. This is the Book; In it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah.
(Qur’an 2:1)
The Prophet (Sal…) said:
خَیۡرُکُمۡ مَنۡ تَعَلَّمَ الۡقُراٰنَ وَعَلَّمَہ
“The best among you is the one who learns and teaches Qur’an” (Bukhari P572, volume 2)
Allah (Subhan a hu wa ta’ala) revelaed the Qur’an for the guidance of humanity. For understanding Qur’an, knowledge of different relevant fields are required e.g. Surf, Nahu, eloquence of Arabic etc but basically two things are very important for every humanbeing with respect to Qur’an:
- Pronunciation
- Understanding the proper meaning of Qur’an
Pronunciation is importance because there are some words in Qur’an which if not pronounced in the correct way, their meaning change e.g. The first word 112th Chapter of Qur’an is “Qul قُل” (Meaning: ‘Say’) , if this word is not pronounced in the correct way then it may give the meaning of “kul کُل (Meaning: ‘Eat’) which changes the meaning of complete ayah. Similarly, there is a word “Qulb قلب “ (Meaning: ‘Heart’) which if not pronounced in the correct way may give the meaning of “kulb کلب” (Meaning: ‘Dog’)
Understanding the proper meaning of Qur’an is important because Qur’an has been revealed for the correctness of Creed and to act upon it. These both things can never be learnt without understanding the Proper Meanings.
